Making the case for mobile technology in the classroom Teachers should design learning experiences that include technology with mobile devices in mind, veteran educator David Jakes writes in this blog post. Jakes, a digital learning strategist for Cannon Design, writes that with ownership of mobile devices only expected to grow, teachers and schools should develop mobile strategies. He also lists several questions for educators to consider when working to design learning around mobile technologies. Ron Farrow, the district's new technology instruction specialist, said his goal was to learn from others' mistakes. Among the lessons he learned on a trip to Joplin, Mo., was that the district did not take into account the number of devices that would be lost or damaged, resulting in a financial loss. Southeast Missourian (Cape Girardeau) (7/9) | Proposal would consolidate some Mich. districts' services Michigan Superintendent of Public Instruction Mike Flanagan is proposing that local school districts consolidate some services in order to save money. Under the plan, countywide school districts would have centralized food service, transportation, curriculum development, technology and more.
