A dog who lost her snout and upper jaw after jumping in front of a speeding motorcycle, saving two of her owner's family members, seems to have beaten cancer after undergoing chemotherapy at the University of California, Davis, said university veterinarian Gina Davis. The dog, Kabang, came to the U.S. from the Philippines and still must be treated for heartworms before she can have surgery to address her facial wound from the collision. - Scientists find a way to ward off fish kill
Not one dead fish has been found at California's Pescadero Marsh since volunteers dug a channel through a sandbar in the wetland that's home to 10 threatened or endangered species, according to scientists from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
