International Journal of Obesity

Special feature: The obesity paradox

The International Journal of Obesity (IJO) has received a series of papers in recent months that have dealt with the rigor of obesity research. Evaluation of the way obesity scientists carry out research is sometimes uncomfortable and controversial. This special issue includes discussion on five papers that deal with how research is conducted and how data are analyzed. IJO is attempting to enhance the quality of research in the field and hold accepted papers to a higher standard than many other journals. The Editors hope that the papers in this issue, as well as those in past and future issues of IJO, will stimulate scientists to re-evaluate many of the assumptions about obesity, determine those which are truly evidence based, and improve the rigor of science in the journal.
