NASA TO HOLD JAN. 10 MEDIA BRIEFING ON NEXT LANDSAT MISSION LAUNCH

WASHINGTON -- NASA will hold a news briefing at 1 p.m. EST on
Thursday, Jan. 10, about the upcoming launch of the Landsat Data
Continuity Mission (LDCM). The briefing will be held in the James E.
Webb Auditorium at NASA Headquarters, 300 E St. SW, Washington. The
news conference will air live on NASA Television and the agency's
website.

LDCM is a collaboration between NASA and the U.S. Geological Survey
that will continue the Landsat Program's 40-year data record of
monitoring Earth's landscapes from space. LDCM will expand and
improve on that record with observations that advance a wide range of
Earth sciences and contribute to the management of agriculture, water
and forest resources. The spacecraft is scheduled to launch Feb. 11.

The panelists for the briefing are:

-- David Jarrett, LDCM program executive, NASA Headquarters,
Washington
-- Jim Irons, LDCM project scientist, Goddard Space Flight Center,
Greenbelt, Md.
-- Ken Schwer, LDCM project manager, Goddard Space Flight Center
-- Matthew Larsen, associate director for climate and land use change,
U.S. Geological Survey, Reston, Va.
