Israeli researchers have discovered that stem cells are preserved by a subgroup of activated immune cells that also can protect them from chemotherapy and infection. The team also found that prostaglandin treatment can boost the amount of stem cells and enhance cell quality, a development that may help improve treatments for leukemia.
