The FDA released incident reports regarding five people whose deaths in the past three years may have come after drinking Monster Energy, an energy drink with a high level of caffeine. The agency received reports of five deaths with potential links to Monster Energy and a report of a nonfatal heart attack, FDA spokeswoman Shelly Burgess said. The reports, acquired under the Freedom of Information Act, don't prove a connection between the drink and the deaths or other health problems. When clients asked Bon Appetit Management for nutrition labeling, the food-service vendor faced a challenge because its chefs do not follow corporate recipes and instead cook using fresh ingredients and foods that are in season.
