Seeing By CANDELS' Light

In 2009, Hubble began to map five carefully selected areas of the sky. Among its goals: pinpointing distant supernovae, finding galaxies within a billion years of the Big Bang and a little further on, and observing them when star and black hole formation were at their peak intensity.

The Cosmic Assembly Near-infrared Deep Extragalactic Legacy Survey (CANDELS) is now running a blog by the researchers involved in the project. Learn about the challenges of making such a complex project work and the discoveries that can result.
