This morning an email with the subject “could you add Jill to your list” was sent out from the Science by Email mailing list requesting a change of details. The fact you received this email was a due to human error and the issue that led to the error has been addressed.
The mailing list software used to distribute the newsletters has filters in place to moderate all incoming mail requests. At no point was information from the mailing list released, and there was no compromise of security.
