European SCIENTISTS and ASTRONOMERS have discovered the most Earth-like planet outside our solar system.
its called 581c and it is 5 times heavier than the earth. and its diameter is 1.5 times bigger than that of earth.
it completes its full orbit around its sun in 13 days meaning its year is 13 days long. Is is about 20.5 light years from the earth. which is about 120 trillion miles away and its sun is called la Gliese 581 .
its also called a red dwarf because it is red in color therefore it contains low energy.one would weigh more on the planet because its acceleration due to gravity (g) is more than that of earth. it is 1.6 time more.
it is not known if its surface is rocky(like earth) or filled with ice(like Pluto) or contains liquid water. but according to the data received by the scientists at the EUROPEAN SOUTHERN OBSERVATORY TELESCOPE in LA SILLA , CHILE, they suspect that the planet has an average temperature of about 32-104 degrees. this means that there are chances the planet contains liquid water which essential to life.its resemblance with earth raises questions about the existence of life there.
