Special Issue: In Memory of Editorial Board Member, Professor Lester Mitscher


This issue is dedicated to the memory of Dr Lester A Mitscher, Professor Emeritus of Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Kansas and longtime board member of The Journal of Antibiotics, who passed on May 8, 2015. We would like to thank all his friends and colleagues who contributed to this issue.We are particularly grateful to Dr James (Jim) McAlpine from the University of Illinois at Chicago, USA for his invaluable support in the planning and coordination of the issue. We would also like to express our deep sympathy to Professor Mitscher's family.
