MEDIA ADVISORY: M13-017
ACCREDITATION OPEN FOR NASA LANDSAT DATA CONTINUITY MISSION LAUNCH
VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Members of the media planning to
cover the launch of NASA's Landsat Data Continuity Mission (LDCM) at
Vandenberg Air Force Base in California must apply for accreditation
by Feb. 4.
LDCM will launch aboard a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket from
Vandenberg's Space Launch Complex 3. Liftoff is targeted for 10:04
a.m. PST Feb. 11.
For accreditation, news media should contact 2nd Lt. Kaylee Ausbun of
the 30th Space Wing Public Affairs Office at Vandenberg by telephone
at 805-606-3595, by fax at 805-606-4571, or by email at
kaylee.ausbun@us.af.mil.
Media representatives must provide their full legal name, date of
birth and media affiliation. Foreign media also should include
nationality and passport number. Legal photo identification will be
required upon arrival at Vandenberg.
LDCM, a collaboration between NASA and the United States Geological
Survey, is the eighth satellite in the Landsat series. It is poised
to expand, improve and advance the long-term record of Earths
landscapes while maintaining the heritage of its Landsat
predecessors. Once the LDCM satellite is operational, several months
after launch, it will be renamed Landsat 8.
The Launch Services Program at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida
is responsible for launch management.
